According to many users, the smartphone pulls and traps the user’s hair or beards when they make a call. The hashtag #hairgate even became a trending topic on Twitter as many users took their complaints to the social network.
One user wrote: “The seam on my iPhone 6 where the aluminum meets the glass is definitely catching my hair and pulling it out.”

Another user tweeted: “Haven’t had have a problem with my iPhone 6 Plus bending…but I definitely have had facial hair pulled. Consider Hipster Beards”
In an experiment conducted by The Guardian tech team, the iPhone 6 pulled out the beard hairs of one of its tech reporters several times after rubbing it on the face.
Alex Hern, the tech reporter who served as the lab rat of the experiment, said: “I was surprised when I managed to pull out a beard hair with the iPhone 6, because it certainly has not come up in daily use.”
However, when Guardian tech reporter Hannah Jane Parkinson rubbed the gadget on her head, iPhone 6 failed to pull or trap her hair.
As of writing, Apple has not yet released a statement regarding the controversy.
Earlier this month, some iPhone users complained that their gadget bends when placed inside their pockets, thus the hashtag “bendgate”.
